We are in full bloom and heading into the second half of summer! Join us at Verona Maker space to slow down, improve skills and enjoy the lovely summer days we have ahead. We invite you to stop and smell the flowers and stay a while and enjoy the company of others as we all learn together. Check out the workshops we have lined up for July.

Sunday Room is a quiet space for personal practice. Each Sunday evening, the space is prepared for people who want a few uninterrupted hours to reconnect with their own creative rhythm. Participants bring whatever practice they wish to spend time with—handbuilding in clay, writing, drawing, reading, collage, knitting or simply quiet reflection. This is not a class or an open studio. There is no instruction and no expectation to socialize. The emphasis is on creating a calm, thoughtfully prepared environment where individual practice can unfold alongside others. Participants using clay are welcome to handbuild only. All materials, storage and firing remain the responsibility of each participant.

This class is packed full of different techniques: using tape, splatter, scraping, layering, and more! All supplies included to paint an 8x10 inch painting. Join us for Blooms & Brush, a workshop designed for parents and children to slow down and make something beautiful together. First, a stop at the bloom bar to arrange flowers into a beautiful bouquet. Then head to your canvas and vase, painting both to hold the story of this special morning long after the flowers have faded.
No experience needed, just bring your little artist and a willingness to get a little paint on your fingers. We will work with acrylic paints, so please wear clothes that can get a little messy.

A cup carried outside after dinner. Cold water on the table. Fruit shared between friends. Conversations that last a little longer because no one is ready to go inside. Stay Awhile is Studio Magdala's summer Clay Evening. Together, we'll handbuild a ceramic summer cup inspired by these slower rhythms of the season. Through guided observation, touch, and making, participants will explore clay as a sensory language while creating an object designed for everyday summer rituals. This intimate experience is designed for beginners and experienced makers alike. All materials, glazing, firing, and finishing are included.

Learn how to control watercolor by understanding how the medium works. This four-week course is for anyone 12 and up who is ready to dive in. All artist-grade materials are provided. Just show up and get to work. We will spend our time painting and experimenting, exploring how water, pigment, and paper react to one another. You will learn the mechanics to control your brush and stop leaving results to chance. By the end, you will have a finished painting you are proud of.

Discover a new planet in this four day camp! Kids will design and create their very own planet, sculpt alien inhabitants, build the structures the aliens live in, make a map of the planet, and create a language (including sending a postcard to a person of their choosing in the made up language)! There will be a small optional presentation where the kids can show their newly discovered planet and alien civilization to guardians/friends/family on the last day! This camp focuses on creativity, imagination, and world building using a wide array of materials!

Koi Fish in Watercolor

In this 2 hour class, you’ll practice painting different colored koi fish using a wet-on-wet technique. This class is perfect for beginners since the Koi fish outline is printed onto your watercolor paper. All supplies included to paint two 5x7 inch paintings. Skill Level: Beginner. Come to the Verona Maker Space and meet our new Birth & Baby Instructor Rhonda Mossner. She is an experienced and fully certified doula who lives and has her practice here in Verona! She will be starting her classes here at the Maker Space in August! If you are expecting a baby soon, be sure to sign up for Birth Partner Training 101 or her Beginning Breastfeeding classes! Both will be very informative and a great start into parenthood! There is no charge for this meet & greet! If you would like to chat about how having a doula to support you can really make a difference, come and meet her! Students will receive a coupon for 10% off birth services when they book with her!

Morning Makers: Polymer Clay Magnets

Ages 7+
Cost: $30
On the first day we will sculpt a bunch of magnets out of polymer clay, any design! Day two, we will paint them, glue a magnet to the back, and seal the paint with mod podge! Kids can make up to eight polymer clay magnets, and supplies will be provided to make air dry magnets as time allows!
